It's that time again! Yes, for me to crawl out of the shadows, prove that I'm still alive, and info-dump uninteresting information about my year!

1. What did you do in 2016 that you'd never done before?
Phht. I... honestly can't think of anything.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I guess I resolved to limit time spent on Facebook, which I guess I did, although probably not to a level in keeping more of my sanity lol. Haven't decided yet if I'll make one this year. I could definitely stand to lose some weight, so I could always fall back on the most common resolution.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Various friends and acquantances.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My uncle (mom's sister's husband) died from cancer back in January, and my husband's grandma (his dad's mom) died from cancer in June. My aunt and uncle live out on the east coast and I don't get out there very often so I feel like I never really got to know my uncle that well, and I never did meet my husband's grandma in person (although I did talk with her on the phone a few times), but it's still tough on the family as a whole, if nothing else. And Lydia no longer has any living great-grandparents. :(

5. What countries did you visit?
None. I actually didn't travel too much this year--made the drive to St. Louis and back, and I did go to Texas and back nearly a year ago (around New Year's 2016, so it was technically this year) to bring my stepson back to his mom, but to be honest I almost forgot that we even did that this year lol.

6. What would you like to have in 2017 that you lacked in 2016?
My answer last year was "Uh... a flat stomach? lol" and I'll keep that because I didn't get it at ALL this year lol

7. What date from 2016 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Uh... jeez, I don't know. 2016 wasn't a dull year to be sure, but nothing really memorable happened either, it was just busy. Seriously, nothing's sprining to mind.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting the hang of this whole parenting thing ;)

9. What was your biggest failure?
Again, nothing's really coming to mind.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Last year I complained about having had a constant cold since September, when I had rarely gotten sick in the past. This year seems to be the same. It's probably Lydia bringing home tons of germs from daycare that keep hammering me, lol. Actually I don't feel like I've got much of a cold right now (knock on wood), but yeah, it lasted a long, LONG time. Nothing more major than that. Oh wait! I did fall down the stairs, land on my butt, and I suspect broke my tailbone early this year. It hurt to sit down and stand up for a good month afterwards, so while I never got it X-rayed or anything (I knew that there's really not much to do for a broken tailbone), I am pretty sure I did indeed break it. So there was that, lol

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Um... the little Mojo Jojo doll I bought on my birthday?
14725673_10154187857818155_5129595752684550801_n.jpg
lol. I don't know. I don't make a lot of big purchases for myself that often. Most of my money goes towards food, bills, etc.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
asfdjlkadfsj I am seriously having trouble coming up with answers this year. Not that everyone I interacted with this year was an ass or anything, but I can't think of any "WOW!" moments that merit special attention, if that makes sense?

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Let's just say I've unfollowed a number of Facebook friends (on both sides of the aisle) due to their inflammitory, hateful political posts and leave it at that.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Lydia's physical therapy and helmet. Thankfully her helmet's been paid off (finally) and her last PT appointment was in September. :)

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The friggin' DuckTales reboot, which won't even be for another half a year anyway. But you guys. I have no clue why I'm so excited for this when the reality is that it could end up being a giant turd, but it looks SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOD and I have such high hopes for it and I really think it's gonna be, if not awesome, at least an enjoyable, fun show and I CANNOT WAIT to see it! :D

16. What song will always remind you of 2015?

This is seriously way more catchy than it should be... although no surprise there, ALL of BLR's music videos are.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder?
About the same.

ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter. I've avoided the scale but my clothes don't fit as well (hell, I couldn't even fit in one of my loose-fitting materinty shirts the other day) so that's unfortunately a dead giveaway. I feel so uncomfortable with all of this extra weight. :(

iii. richer or poorer? haha poorer, right now. But James is getting a raise in January and I'm getting one in February, and with Lydia's medical bills finally squared away (plus James's car that will be fully paid off in April), things should get better soon (KNOCK ON WOOD FOREVER)

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Scrapbooking, although currently I need to buy more supplies, so I need a little extra money to do that lol. Also exercising (see above comments about weight)

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Mindlessly snacking in the evenings (also see above comments about weight)

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
We'll be driving to my aunt and uncle's house in Lincoln tomorrow to celebrate with my extended family (dad's side). We'll then go to Columbus, spend time with my immediate family, and James and I will come back to Omaha the next day sometime, while Lydia will spend a few more days at her grandparents' while James and I get stuff done (read--go to the movies lol)

21. At any point in the past year did you do something that you consider completely out of your usual character?
Can't think of anything.

22. Did you fall in love in 2016?
Nope.

23. How many one-night stands?
Zero

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Fucking Pokemon >.< DAMN YOU TEAM ROCKET. Also, have you checked out Milo Murphey's Law? I've only gotten the chance to watch a few episodes, but that show is funny as SHIT. (But who's surprised, coming from the guys that brought us Phineas and Ferb and with Weird Al himself in the title role?)

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not really.

26. What was the best book you read this year?
I read this really awesome book earlier this year about two teenaged boys in the late 60's/early 70's trying to solve the disappearence of one of the boys' mother. It was a great book but I can't remember the name of it, argh (it wasn't a big-name author or a "top 10 bestseller" or anything like that, I just grabbed it from the library because it looked interesting).

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I'm going to say Def Leppard, not to say that I "discovered" them this year, because I obviously knew about them before then, but this year is the first time I've really taken notice of how many awesome songs they have. :)

28. What did you want and get?
...........I WROTE MORE FANFIC. THAT'S COOL RIGHT?! (DAMN YOU TEAM ROCKET)

29. What did you want and not get?
To get in shape, although that's mostly my fault for not taking as much time out as I could have to exercise and instead sat in front of a screen watching things on YouTube or writing fanfic (DAMN YOU TEAM ROCKET)

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I right now can only think of three films that were released this year that I saw even parts of, so I'll list them all and my thoughts:
Deadpool: What I saw of it was fucking hilarious. Unfortunately James didn't feel too well and so we had to leave the theater early, but we both agreed, even from just seeing the first half, that that's one we'd consider buying on blu-ray (crap, I need to do that)
Zootopia: I saw maybe the first half-hour of this... my MIL brought it when she and my stepson were staying with us. I know Disney fans have been going apeshit for this movie, but... I don't know, I just couldn't get into it. Get out your pitchforks lol. I just thought the message that I knew they were trying to set up was waaaaaaaaaay too conflicted and was being set up in a world that didn't make a whole lot of sense. I just couldn't get over my screaming "how does this work? How does ANY of this work?" every minute or so. Granted, maybe things would have been answered to my liking by the end, but I just couldn't sit through it to find out.
Secret Life of Pets: The only one I saw through to the end. We took my stepson to this in theaters while he was with us this summer. It was cute and enjoyable. Nothing great, nothing terrible, just a cute, silly little movie. The end. :)

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Took the day off from work, did some early Christmas shopping, bought the Mojo Jojo you saw above, relaxed at home for a bit, then picked up Lydia from daycare and took her to Cracker Barrel where we met James for supper after he got off work (I had a gift card). This was the year... I hit the big 3-0. Yikes. I seriously do not feel thirty. O_O

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Being in better shape. I swear I don't care (too much) about my appearance; it's just that carrying around this extra weight is just plain uncomfortable.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2016?
Long shirts, comfy pants, and sneakers :)

34. What kept you sane?
Nothing really drove me close to insane, so I guess just my own natural equillibrium. Again, after going through some rough emotional turbulance in my college years, this is a very good place to be in and I can't complain.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
None

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I feel like I should say the presidential election, and I guess it did... but my frustration and disappointment were manifested way back in June/July when it became clear who the candidates were going to be (I didn't like either, to put it mildly) so that by the time election day came, I already knew I was going to be disappointed no matter who won. I found Clinton slightly less unbearable than Trump, however (that's really the only way I can put it) and was expecting that she'd win (like everyone else was), and so when the unthinkable happened... yeah, guys. I know I should be upset, and logically and cognatively I am, don't get me wrong, but I think after spending most of the year upset about it, I'm more just strangely fascinated with the result now. A bile fascination, maybe... but a fascination nonetheless. It's a weird mental place to be in for sure, but given the anger or smugness (depending on which horse they were backing) from many of my friends and family, I'd much rather be feeling this way anyway lol. Just... what a time to be alive. ^^;

37. Who did you miss?
No one in particular.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Can't think of anyone new I met this year.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2016.
"Don't worry, be happy" lol. I feel like it was kind of a zen year for me, all things considered.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
dsafhlasjhlaskjfhsda when have I ever answered this question?

Yeah. 2016 wasn't anything exciting or memorable for me, at least compared to 2015. But it certainly wasn't a bad year, either, so I am not at all complaining about that. :)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Maybe I can ring in the new year by finishing the fanfic I'm working on. Hoping I'll be able to soon! (DAMN YOU TEAM ROCKET)
