The Sexsmith Legacy 1.8

Okay, so... Sims update time. :D
Since the game on my computer is pretty much broken, I went ahead and installed the newer expansion packs on my husband's old laptop. He only had the base game, World Adventures, and Ambitions on it. I installed the rest of the expansion packs I had (it did take me awhile to find the Generations disc, but I did find it in my closet eventually) and stuff packs, gave a quick test run, and was happy to see that stuff was actually working. They could buy books! Calvin could finally sell his novel! They weren't tagged as traveling anymore! (Of course, to do that I had to move them into a new neighborhood, but oh well... anything to get them working again.) I started building them a house, but... the game froze, as it is wont to do sometimes. ^^;
This past week, Origin was having a "customer appreciation sale" or somesuch like that, and pretty much all of the Sims games and expansion packs were 50-70% off. So, of course, I bought about $100 worth of games for only about $50. :D So I now have the Fast Lane and Outdoor Living stuff packs, as well as... Showtime and University. (I finally decided to get Showtime, although it was one of the expansion packs that had less appeal for me, simply because I want genies in my game. With the sale price taking effect it was only $10, so I figured it was worth it. University you can blame
Soooooo... this is going to be a much shorter update than usual, even though a lot of Sims time has passed. Because I actually pretty much did have a nearly complete 1.8 update when I was still playing the botched game on my desktop. Here's a quick run-down of what transpired, as best as I can remember (I played this at least a month ago):
-Commie and Calvin went on that "free trip", leaving Ricky in charge of his four younger siblings, one of which was only a toddler. He ended up missing prom because of it. Commie and Calvin didn't come back after their allotted two days, and in fact would probably still be missing if my lovely husband didn't find a way to get them back in the game. (They were still tagged as traveling, though, but as mentioned above, playing them on a new computer and moving them into a new neighborhood finally fixed that.)
-Commie tried unsuccessfully to get laid.
-Both Commie and Calvin aged from young adults to adults and were in the middle of midlife crises (which was a moodlet that gave them a negative hit to certain unfulfilled wishes, but since again I had to move them into a new neighborhood and that resets all the moodlets, their midlife crises ended early). Calvin did get facial hair from that, as I posted here.
-Commie and Calvin weren't the only Sims who aged up. The twins are now teenagers:

Suzanne got the equestrian trait (I will not get a horse I will not get a horse I will not get a horse...) Her lifetime wish is to become an illustrious author.

...and Santiago got the adventurous trait. His lifetime wish is to become a cross-creature breeder or whatever the science career one is.
Max also aged up from a toddler to a child...

...and got the absent-minded trait (Yeah, I know, I'm sorry you missed out on his entire toddlerhood... he learned to walk, talk, and got potty trained as usual, so nothing really new or different there).
Aaaaand... Xena also aged from a puppy to an adult, and got a very long nose:

Here's a few cute/quirky screenshots from the Sexsmiths pre-move.

The twins, still as kids, playing with blocks together.

Commie just has the weirdest facial expressions, doesn't she? If memory serves me correctly, this was right before she aged up to adult.

Since Max is athletic, I thought I'd send him to work out with his mom. Just some cute mother-son bonding. :)

Xena looking out the windowwwwwwwwww XD

Exhibit B in the "Commie-has-weird-facial-expressions" gallery. This was when she was getting her makeover.

Aaaaand naked cuddling time. XD
Alright, now that we've blasted through that, here are the first two days in the Sexsmith's new house. That's as far as I played it last night, since I just wanted to get to what I was intending to be the ending of update 1.8 before I realized the game just wasn't working right--ie, Lafayette becoming a teenager. And he was only two days away from it. So this is a very small update. (Next update will probably be 1.8.5, because of the oddness of this one.)

Here's their new house. I moved them into Sunset Valley, because I'd read that the towns with multiple-purpose rabbit holes (ie, in their old town the school and the stadium were the same building) could be buggy. The problem with moving into Sunset Valley, after all those expansion packs dropping the new buildings in what used to be open lots, was that there were no even medium-large lots available for them to move into. So I placed a new lot... apparently on a hill. So I had to level the terrain, and now the Sexsmiths are living basically on a platform, which I think is actually pretty cool. ^^;

Look! Everyone's working on improving their skills! AND IT'S ACTUALLY WORKING! Calvin's already sold two novels! I is so happy. XD In this picture, he's reading a recipe book so he can finally cook stuff above level 0 ability.

Proof that I have University, I guess. This guy just strutted up to the front door and gave them a university welcome/information kit. His very presence gave everyone a good "mascot" moodlet... wtf. XD

Lafayette, as you can see, was trying to make chemistry potions... and failed. I didn't realize kids could get singed, too. Oh well. To the shower with you, my evil Sim! :D

I told Xena to go watch TV with Lafayette, and she just hopped right up on the couch. LOL presumptuous much? Well, she is a member of the family, I suppose. XD

Cute Calvin and Xena moment. They're BFFs now. XDDDD

Take romantic photo with smartphone? OMG DO WANT. You two are just so cute. Hell, to me the University expansion pack is already worth the only $27 I spent on it just for that. XD

And, finally, here's little punk-ass Lafayette as a teenager! The trait he got was... irresistible. I shit you not. Which expansion pack did that come with, Showtime or University? Because this is the first I'd even heard of it. XDD Good lord, I have an adventurous, artistic, irresistible evil Sim. Someone must want to be heir...
And that's it for this update. I will tell you that next update, you will not be seeing much Suzanne or Lafayette, because I enrolled both of them in boarding school. (The art one, because Lafayette is already artistic but doesn't have a lifetime wish, and Suzanne because she has an arts-related lifetime wish but no traits to go with it.) Oh, and speaking of lifetime wishes, while Lafayette as a teen doesn't have one yet, Max does. He rolled the wish to become master magician, or something along those lines. A Showtime related one, in other words. Well, I have two new expansion packs to explore, so why not?
I don't know when the next update will be, since I'll be out of town next weekend for Easter. Also, I can pretty safely say that my legacy won't be updated at all during the summer. Why? Because my stepson is with us during the summer, and the game is now on his laptop. And taking his computer just so I can play dollhouse with my people would be a shitty thing to do. I'm not wanting to be an evil stepmother here. ^^; But I will let you know once he's here and that will happen, and that's not going to be until early June. Until then, I'll try to update semi-frequently. :)
On a Petz note, I would like to pimp my website again: http://commander.bravesites.com/ I have every breed up now except for orange shorthairs and great Danes, and the download links finally actually work now. (I know, what a concept!) I've started working on a poodle breeding project too, and I may post about that when I get it finished. It's pretty big in scale, but I've already made good progress. :)
