Petz: Honey Bears and Papillons
Mar. 5th, 2013 08:03 pmTwo quick things:
First, regarding my Sims legacy. I have a way to play it again... I think. I'm going to move my family over to my husband's old laptop. (Luckily he has a newer laptop, because with Sim City 5 out today he's never going to leave his computer screen. Yes, we are both dorks. :D) That's going to take me awhile to set up, though, because he only has up to Ambitions installed on that laptop, so I'm going to have to get the rest of the expansion packs installed, and then move my family over (hopefully with their house, but if I have to just move the family by itself and build them a new house, I'll do that too). Since I'm extremely occupied with my Petz right now (seriously, they're all I think about anymore :D) that probably won't be happening in the very near future. But I do have a plan, and I'm hoping it works, since the game on his laptop has no mods and isn't broken. Yet. ^^;
Second, I forgot to mention in yesterday's entry that I have another B&W shorthair besides Pouncer, but he's hexed and thus unusable for my project. I know, that sounds like something completely pointless to go back and point out, but I meant to show you his picture, because seriously, Space Monster is AWESOME. LOOK. Yes, he was that tiny as a kitten. And yes, he is that huge as an adult. And yes, he has no legs or butt. And yes, he's friggin' AWESOME. But I'm sure you can all very clearly tell that he's hexed. :P
Okay. Let's get on with the kittens and puppies for today!

At this point I'm just wanting to get all these Petz 5 Catz with non-mutating fur textures out of the way. Here's Kevin, my honey bear. They are a very large breed, yes--the largest Catz breed, in fact. (Although Space Monster still makes them look like ants.) ;) They have a few different first-gen variations: green or brownish-grey eyes, white or black feet, and some have a white chest patch. Their cheeks and muzzles are always white, though.
This one surprised me.

I wasn't expecting the cheeks to mutate, and not only did they, but they mutated separately of each other. Just like the desert lynxes' toes. That's just so bizarre! I have to guess that the designers threw that in so that mutations could still exist in breeds that have the non-mutating fur texture.
And something else I found out--I'm pretty sure my suspicions that the brownish-grey eyes being dominant over green eyes are correct. Even in the second generation, I had absolutely no green eyes--and again, I had a roughly equal amount of green-to-grey ratio. That kind of sucks, since I like that green color better than the color eyes Kevin has. Oh well. That's what breeding for mutations is for. :)

This is Loopy, my papillon (another Petz 5 breed). When putting her back in my adopted Petz folder (plus with the other fifteen I adopted and all their puppies, and their puppies, and etc), I noticed or remembered how skittish and scared this breed consistently is. They're the Dogz equivalent of the orange shorthair. Poor li'l things. Anyhoo, they come in three variations--orange head with orange fringe (feathers? I dunno what to call the fluff on their heads), red head with black fringe, and black head with black fringe like Loopy. Their ears are the same color as their fringe. They all have a spot on their backs which is the same color as their head.

I had some reds before this generation, but none of them passed down for the fifth. I also had some with fringe that was a different color than their body, but again, none of that showed up for the fifth generation. So a rather boring result, all-in-all... although I have to admit, I like the way the all-white ones look. :)
Persians and bulldogs are coming up next! :)
